Forest Hills Connection | News and Life in Our DC Neighborhood
Covering Forest Hills, Van Ness, North Cleveland Park and Wakefield
Mel Elfin writes in the Introduction to Forest Hills, a history of our neighborhood published by Arcadia Press, “the most important role of Forest Hills during the Civil War was to keep open the lines of communication between Fort Reno and Stevens.” This bus tour by the Alliance to Preserve the Civil War Defenses of Washington will provide an on-the-ground perspective of the importance of Forest Hills during the Battle of Fort Stevens. The tour also includes a special visit to the Embassy of Peru where remains of Battery Terrill can still be found. Learn more at http://www.dccivilwarforts.org/
