The gunman who surrendered to police in December after attempting to “self-investigate” internet falsehoods about Comet Ping Pong pleaded guilty last Friday to weapons and assault charges.

Edgar Maddison Welch, who had driven here from North Carolina, entered Comet on a Sunday afternoon carrying a loaded AR-15 and revolver. He was charged with illegally transporting firearms over state lines and assault with a dangerous weapon. Welch’s sentence is scheduled for June 22nd.
On the same day, a conspiracy theorist who has spread the so-called “Pizzagate” rumors about Comet on his broadcasts released a videotaped apology to Comet Ping Pong owner James Alefantis. Read more at Slate.com, and The New York Times.
That didn’t dissuade the two dozen or so believers who showed up for a White House Pizzagate protest the next day.
