On Saturday, October 28th, the bare concrete plaza at 4250 Connecticut is being transformed into the “Van Ness Social Club.” At this free event, we’re invited to “learn a dance, create some art, enjoy some music, play some human chess, have a chat, and meet your neighbors!”
It’s the culmination of an AARP “quick action” project aimed at building community and multi-generational ties. Van Ness Main Street was one of only 88 AARP grant recipients across the country. The money has to be spent by November 1st, and VNMS decided to turn the plaza into a temporary social and arts hub.
We’ll provide more information as it comes available. In the meantime, Van Ness Main Street is inviting us to save the date:
Live Music! Dancing! Chess! Art! Lively Conversations!
Van Ness Main Street, in partnership with AARP, is transforming the plaza at the Van Ness Metro Station into our very own town square-style Social Club, offering tons of free afternoon fun and activities you won’t want to miss!
