If you are looking for ways to celebrate Earth Day this Saturday, April 22nd, look no further than our own neighborhood. More likely than not, a cleanup is taking place nearby.
That’s mostly because of Rock Creek Conservancy’s 9th annual Rock Creek Extreme Cleanup. Its goal: “cleaning Rock Creek and its tributaries, the parks connected to Rock Creek, and the neighborhoods near Rock Creek where trash originates. This large-scale volunteer effort includes trash cleanups at more than 75 locations along the 33-mile length of Rock Creek.”
View all the events and register at RockCreekConservancy.org.
Or register for cleanups at Melvin Hazen and Soapstone parks, Broad Branch stream and Peirce Mill (that cleanup is Sunday, April 23).
Rock Creek Conservancy is also partnering with Tenleytown Main Street to clean up green spaces and sidewalks along Wisconsin Avenue between Tenley Circle and Fessenden. For the schedule and details, visit tenleytownmainstreet.org.
