UPDATED with details on pizza sales and preorders. See below.
Friends of Forest Hills Playground has announced the second annual Final Fridays/Picnic in the Park concert series schedule and lineup of local performers:
June 24th: Spread Love band (see below)
July 29th: Bob Perilla’s Big Hillbilly Bluegrass (an encore performance!)
August 26th: Marsha and the Positrons (another returning performer!)
These free, all-ages shows are on the final Fridays of the summer months. The Armand’s Pizza truck will be selling slices and whole pies (a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the playground) starting at 5:30. The live performances will begin at 6 p.m.
Friends of Forest Hills Playground is an all-volunteer nonprofit group formed to help care for our park at 32nd and Chesapeake Streets, NW. We organized the park’s first summer concerts in 2015 to take advantage of the outdoor amphitheater added to the park during its 2014 renovation. Its members invite you to stop by their information table at the concerts to say hello and purchase an annual membership ($15/family). T-shirts will be available for $15-20. All proceeds support the playground and the performers.
Armand’s Pizza is donating 25% of its sales to Friends of Forest Hills Playground, and is taking preorders until Thursday, June 23 at 10 p.m. (Pizza sold out quickly at the August.)
This time, Armand’s is also offering salads. To preorder, email [email protected] with your name and order.
Whole Pizza (specify deep dish or thin crust):
Cheese – $15
Spinach – $17
Pepperoni – $17Large salads: Garden or Caesar – $7; with grilled chicken – $9

The playground group is seeking our help in making this a fun and festive event for all. The time commitment is minimal – 30 minutes to help sell pizza; 15 minutes to make sure the park is clean at the end of the event. Here’s the signup sheet. Community service hours are available for students.
Meet Spread Love
The four trombonists and percussionist of this versatile group perform Dixieland jazz and jazz standards. They make Michael Jackson swing and get grooving to Go-Go. And its members are as comfortable performing on the Kennedy Center’s Millennium Stage as on the streets of DC.
So on Friday, June 24th, from 5:30-7:30, bring a picnic (or cash for pizza) and get ready to groove!
