On the morning of Wednesday, October 3, the streets of Forest Hills will be filled with the colors blue and yellow, and kids walking to school.
In celebration of the National Walk to School Day, Murch has organized “walking buses.” Groups of parents and students will meet at four locations around the school and head toward Murch, picking up “riders” on corners along the way.
The day’s theme is “Be healthy, be active, be safe” and will involve police officers from the 2nd District and firefighters and EMS officers from Engine 31, as well as support from DDOT and Children’s National Medical Center. As always, keep an eye out for kids headed to Murch in the morning.
The National Walk to School Day activities are part of Murch’s Safe Routes to School program. For more information about National Walk to School Day or Safe Routes to School, please contact the chair of the Murch Safe Routes to School program, Manolis Priniotakis, at [email protected].
