The DC Council’s Committee on the Department of Transportation and Energy holds a hearing today on four bills, three of which could directly impact pedestrian safety. These include the Bicycle and Pedestrian Safety Act of 2015, and the Vision Zero Act of 2015, which “requires the District Department of Transportation (DDOT) to maintain a system of streets that support safe access for all users, regardless of age, ability, or mode of transportation.” The hearing begins at 11 a.m.
The DC Pedestrian Advisory Committee advises the Council and the mayor’s office on these matters. A blog post about the legislation on DC PAC’s web site explains how you can submit your comments.
