DC Public Library is seeking a temporary home for Cleveland Park’s library while it’s rebuilt. It might end up in Van Ness, in the current home of UDC’s David A. Clarke School of Law and Acacia Bistro.
4340 Connecticut, a property owned by UDC, is but one of the interim venues being considered for the Cleveland Park library as it undergoes an $18.5 million reconstruction.
The District hired Gibane and Perkins Eastman to design the new library at the same location, on Connecticut Avenue and Macomb Street. The architect team is to present its latest plans at a community meeting on Tuesday, February 9th at 6 p.m.
Martha Saccocio, of DCPL’s Office of Communication, said via email they hope to announce on the 9th where the library will be housed during this project, but cannot guarantee they will be ready to do so.
For more information and updates on this project, see the Cleveland Park Library Construction Project website.

How about using the closed Walgreens building on the corner of Connecticut Ave. and Veazey Ter. NW? It would be well used.
