This is for all you backyard, balcony and window sill gardeners.
At the UDC farmers market last Saturday, it was the variegated sage in a friend’s box that caught my eye. She showed me where to find it. I got some herbs and flowering plants. The selection and price were great – three herbs for $10. I then saw beautiful coleus at another tent, but it had started to rain. I am going back to the next market to check those out.
There were lots of plants – herbs, flowering plants, and beautiful coleus, brought by vendors also selling cool weather vegetables and strawberries under their tents on Connecticut Avenue in front of the UDC Law School between Yuma and Windom.
Theresa Cameron, the executive director of Van Ness Main Street, has been working in partnership with UDC CAUSES (College of Agriculture, Urban Sustainability, and Environmental Science) on improving the farmers market. She bought her herbs last week and at the May 20th market and provided these photos. Don’t miss the plants at the market! And check out the other vendors and the entertainment.
