The whole neighborhood’s invited to a
Forest Hills Holiday Bazaar
Saturday, December 5th
2:00 – 5:00pm
2900 Albemarle Street NW, Washington, DC 20008
Enjoy the warmth and full essence of the holidays as we promote women designers and artists during this festive event. Join us for a unique sale of beautifully hand-crafted jewelry, clothing and works of art. Also featuring delicious treats by distinctive Swedish Chocolatier, FIKA.
A percentage of all sales will be donated to the Forest Hills Neighborhood Alliance, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, in support of the Forest Hills Connection, the neighborhood’s award-winning e-magazine.
Co-organizer Dzenita Mehic Saracevic explains:
Last fall around this time, I had a pleasure of interviewing for the Forest Hills Connection Karin Lithell, a Swedish artist and my next-door neighbor. We had a great time chatting together, and I enjoyed looking at her paintings and learning about how she was inspired to change her career and follow her inner calling to become an artist.
The conversation sparked an idea. We thought that a sale exhibit of Karin’s and other artists’ work would make a wonderful neighborhood event around winter holidays. Karin graciously offered her beautiful home for that purpose.
In the past few weeks we gathered a group of five talented women artists and designers who were happy to participate. Neighbors will not only have an opportunity to purchase unique and beautiful holiday gifts, but also to experience holidays in an inviting and warm Swedish home, featuring sweet treats by a Swedish chocolatier and Swedish jazz music usually played around this time of the year!
I made a special request for ABBA, of course! Perhaps this idea catches on and next year another bazaar supporting women artists in the neighborhood springs up! Let’s see!
The featured artists are RaReR, Karin Lithell, Savine Sport, Poppyor and Pico Vela.
