The morning of May 5, after the “gully washer” storm, the clouds settled down for a while. This gave me and Durango, my shepherd, a chance to get out for one of our daily walks up from Linnean Avenue through the Linnean Playground parkland, toward the intersection of Broad Branch Terrace and Fessenden.
Normally the stream that runs there is placid. On this day it was a racing little freshet. Here’s a little video recording the progress from the top of the ridge down to the gully that runs under Linnean Avenue to carry the stream to Broad Branch, and then to Rock Creek and eventually onward to the Potomac, Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic.
