Carnegie Neighborhood Lecture: Is the Earth’s Core Young At Heart?

December 7, 2023 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Join the Carnegie Science Earth and Planets Laboratory on December 7, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. for a talk with EPL Staff Scientist Dr. Peter Driscoll: “Is Earth’s core young at heart? The search for inner core formation using paleomagnetism and dynamo theory.” In this program, Driscoll will describe how researchers are homing in on the solution to this crucial question, and why a “young” inner core may imply that the life-sustaining geodynamo came close to its death 600 million years ago.

This talk is part of Carnegie EPL’s ongoing Neighborhood Lecture Series and will be held both in-person and online. Find details and register here.
