Civil War History Hike

Explore the remnant earthen batteries (cannon emplacements) that were constructed to support the forts and guard the Rock Creek Valley during the Civil War, including recently rediscovered earthworks. The program will highlight the earthworks role during the Battle of Fort Stevens on July 11-12, 1864.

The 2.5 mile hike begins at the Rock Creek Park Nature Center and Planetarium. The program is free and open to the public.
