A special exhibition at Hillwood unveils new discoveries relating to its own collection of Fabergé imperial Easter eggs and other famed works. This lecture series will offer interest and insight into the storied firm.

The Firm of Fabergé: Business, Clients, and Collectors – Wednesday, October 3, 2018 – Wilfried Zeisler, Hillwood’s chief curator, will explore the history of the firm of Fabergé and the success of its creations among Russian imperial clientele and later American collectors such as Marjorie Merriweather Post.

Russia: Royalty and the Romanovs – Wednesday, October 10, 2018 – Caroline de Guitaut, senior curator of decorative arts at the Royal Collection Trust, will examine the relationship between Britain and Russia using artworks drawn exclusively from the Royal Collection of Fabergé.

Fabergé in the Age of Progress – Tuesday, October 16, 2018 – Mikhail Ovchinnikov, the first deputy director of the Fabergé Museum in St. Petersburg, will discuss how the designers at the firm of Fabergé found ways to incorporate nineteenth century advancements in science, technology, and the humanities into their art objects.

Fabergé in London – Tuesday, October 23, 2018 – Kieran McCarthy, an expert on the work of Russian imperial jeweler Carl Fabergé, will present an illustrated lecture about the glittering history of Fabergé’s British branch, from its opening in 1903 to its closure in 1917.

Jewels of the Romanovs: The Collections of Maria, Alexandra, Olga and Xenia
Tuesday, October 30, 2018 – Stefano Papi, a graduate gemologist of the Gemological Institute of America, will highlight the jewelry collections of the Romanovs profiled in Fabergé Rediscovered, tracing from the golden years through the revolution.
