Kid-Friendly Invasive Removal @ Rock Creek Nature Center

Join Rock Creek Conservancy and the National Park Service in Rock Creek Park as we remove invasive plant species from the area around the Nature Center, and Horse Stable. Kids of all ages are encouraged to participate on this activity. We will be removing invasive grasses and herbs from these areas. Gloves, bags, and training will be provided on site, and SSL hours can be earned.
Volunteer Activity: Volunteers will help remove the non-native, invasive Beefstake plant, and potentially the non-native, invasive Stilt grass from the edges of trails around the Nature Center and the Horse Stable, at Rock Creek Park
When: Saturday, September 29, 2018, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm
Where: Volunteers will meet at the Nature Center main door, which is located at 5200 Glover Road, NW. Washington DC. 20015. A parking lot is available.
What to Wear: Please dress appropriately for the weather. Wear sturdy boots or sneakers, no sandals. We recommend long pants and sleeves to prevent contact with poison ivy. We also encourage volunteers to wear a hat.
What to Bring: Bring water. Gloves and bags will be provided. Permission forms need to be signed by parents or guardians if younger than 16. Parents are encouraged to join with their kids. Kids cannot join without a form sign by their parents which will be provided before and during the activity.
