Step back in time for the Heritage Day festival at historic Peirce Mill in Rock Creek Park.
Headlining will be Master Weaver Chapuchi Bobbo Ahiagble from Ghana, who will demonstrate West African Kente strip cloth weaving. Chapuchi grew up among the Ewe weavers near the town of Agbozume, the largest market for Ewe Kente cloth in the world.
We have also set up a quilting demonstration by the Needlechasers of Chevy Chase that will include “make and take” quilting for children. Also: a blacksmith, carpenters, bluegrass musician, and our apple press are featured. We will also be showing off our, renovated orchard. There will be lots of children’s arts and crafts activities along with running of the mill to grind the corn.
