Peirce Mill will be grinding corn into cornmeal Saturday, June 26th from 11:00-2:00 p.m. Visitors are invited to watch the miller fill the hopper with hard corn, separate the mill stones, and release the water over the waterwheel to engage this 1820s wooden machine. Peirce Mill is located in Rock Creek Park at the intersection of Beach Drive and Tilden Street, NW (Park Road if approaching from the east). Free!
A family tour is scheduled at 10:30 a.m. with Sarah Bohl as she interprets milling life, the mysteries of the water mill, and the role children played in milling life. The tour will end just in time for the first grinding of the corn. Free!
