Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens, Dandies and Quaintrelles, and Holly Bass Performance Projects are bringing Jazz Age-style back to Hillwood for a day of fun and leisure with the Seersucker Ride and Social 2012 on Saturday, June 9 from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The retro bicycle ride begins at 11 a.m. at a secret location (to be emailed to registrants the day before the event) and continues at Hillwood for a grand lawn party featuring food, beverages, lawn games, and music. A leisurely bicycle ride through the scenic streets of Washington, D.C., will be followed by an afternoon of picnicking, croquet and badminton, and live music. The Mansion and gardens at Hillwood will also be open for strolling, while a hands-on paper hat-making activity offers an outlet for the creative side. Beer, wine, sparkling wine, specialty cocktails, and soft drinks will be available for purchase. Food, vegetarian and non-vegetarian, will be on sale from popular local food trucks.
