Stargazing in Rock Creek Park

Meet in Rock Creek Park at dusk and let the experts show you the stars and the planets.

The National Capital Astronomers and the National Park Service hold a program, with telescopes, open to all, including children. It is held in the field at the corner of Military Road and Glover Road, right across from St. John’s College High School, and there is a parking lot next to the field.

July 13 9:00 PM Summer Triangle; Moon passing near Virgo
August 10 8:30 PM Saturn near Spica; Andromeda rising
September 7 8:00 PM Cassiopeia level with Polaris; Venus near Spica
October 5 7:30 PM Vega overhead
November 2 7:00 PM Pleiades and winter constellations appear
