One of DC’s “best blocks” is in Forest Hills; Neighborhood spots need your “best of” vote

August 23, 2017 by FHC

We’ve noted before the neighborhood’s more frequent appearances in local “best of” lists with the arrivals of Bread Furst, Little Red Fox and Sfoglina. “Best roof” and “most delicious dumplings” are two of the most unusual. “Best block” is a new one, though.

This WTOP.com slideshow opens with the 5000 block of Connecticut Avenue. “This is the perfect block to spend a relaxing Sunday morning,” WTOP says.

You can have a say in whether neighborhood businesses make it into an upcoming “best of” list. Washington Post’s Express newspaper is collecting votes in categories including DC life, arts, and of course, food. And food is where neighborhood spots have scored nominations. Comet Ping Pong is nominated in the “Best Pizza” category. Pho 14 gets a nod under “Best Pho.” Little Red Fox and Bread Furst are competing for “Best Bakery.”

And if you don’t see your favorite spot listed in any of the categories, you can choose “Other” to cast a write-in vote.
