This photo looks like it could have been taken exactly a year ago, after the derecho that swept through our area. In fact, it’s from Saturday.

Three trees fell across the 4500 block of 29th Street early Saturday. One car was damaged, but fortunately there were no injuries. Workers for DDOT’s Urban Forestry Administration, under the direction of John Thomas, completely cleared the street by Saturday evening.
Friday’s storms likely played a role. Scientific American blogged about the reasons trees can topple in a storm – or afterward – and how to tell if a tree is at risk.
