You’re invited: Forest Hills Citizens Association’s annual meeting

January 15, 2015

Consider yourself invited:

Dear Forest Hills Neighbors and Friends,

You are invited to the Annual Meeting/Wine & Cheese Meet & Greet of the Forest Hills Citizens Association & Neighborhood Alliance on Thursday, January 22nd at 7:00 p.m.

We are pleased to announce that Ryan Hand, the Ward 3 Community Planner at the DC Office of Planning, with Mary Beth Ray, ANC 3F commissioner, will discuss the visioning study for the Van Ness commercial corridor as well as the complementary streetscape study. Together, these studies are poised to position the Van Ness commercial core as a more vibrant, sustainable, and energetic neighborhood that benefits nearby residents, particularly those in Forest Hills. These studies are focused on Connecticut Avenue between Van Ness Street NW and Albemarle Street NW.

Location: Forest Hills of DC (formerly The Methodist Home) at 4901 Connecticut Avenue, NW (plenty of surface parking)

Suggested Dues: $25 per household, payable at the door. Cash or checks only. Checks may be written to: Forest Hills Citizens Association. Additional donations accepted.

Dues support the business operations and DC licensing fees required for maintaining our 501(c)4 and 501(c)3 status, among other initiatives and programs, such as the Forest Hills Connection.

Contact Denise Warner at [email protected] or Amy Wilczynski at [email protected] if you have suggestions for the meeting agenda, questions or would like to volunteer.

Please share this announcement with your neighbors and friends of Forest Hills – we look forward to seeing you!

Denise Warner, President
Jane Solomon, Vice President
William Breer, Treasurer
Amy Wilczynski, Secretary

I understand the need to financially support Forest Hills Connection, but is this the right forum to do that? Charging $25 a household at the door (let’s not pretend a “suggested” donation isn’t a coerced entry fee) to discuss public projects with elected and public administration officials leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Since I’m moving back into the area, I’m going to try to be there! Looking forward to it!
