Zoning Rewrite: DC Planner Lays It Out

July 19, 2012

Ken Terzian recently wrote here about the June 20th presentation by Harriet Tregoning, director of the DC Office of Planning, on the proposed changes to the DC zoning regulations. Now you can see it for yourself. Click through to watch the video.

Coalition For Smarter Growth hosted the event. Here’s its introduction to the video:

D.C. is rethinking its outdated 1950s zoning code. The zoning update will help make the city more inclusive, livable, and walkable through some very important policies, such as accessory dwellings, corner stores, and removing outdated parking requirements. These changes will make it easier for older residents age in place, help newer residents afford to live and stay in D.C., encourage more retail, and make streets safer.

On June 20, Harriet Tregoning, Director of the DC Office of Planning, and David Alpert, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Greater Greater Washington, joined the Coalition for Smarter Growth as part of it’s Pro-DC initiative to talk about what the zoning code update would mean for District residents.

It’s a two-hour presentation. Pro-DC.org‘s fact sheet is here if you’d like a summary of some of their talking points.
