Volunteers were busy in our neighborhood on Saturday.
Van Ness Main Street: “Thank you to yesterday’s wonderful volunteers for helping us plant flowering pollinators in front of the small businesses along Connecticut Ave!”
You’ll have more opportunities to pitch in over the next few weekends. Pollinator-friendly plantings are happening every Saturday and Sunday afternoon (weather permitted) through April 18th. You can find more information and sign up here.
Potomac Appalachian Trail Club – Rock Creek Crew:
“Working on the Melvin Hazen Trail west of Connecticut Avenue on a beautiful spring morning. We cut and moved a blowdown that was partially blocking the trail, dug out new dips, and installed a new step at the Reno Dr/Tilden entrance.”
PATC volunteers spent several weekends in 2019 rebuilding a footbridge on the trail, and are also active in maintaining the Soapstone Valley trail.
