It’s not too late to run for the advisory neighborhood commission serving Van Ness, Forest Hills, and parts of North Cleveland Park and Chevy Chase.
So far, ANC 3F incumbents Teri Huet (ANC 3F02), Mitch Baer (3F03), and Courtney Carlson (chair, 3F06) have told Forest Hills Connection they are running for another two-year term. Marilyn Slatnick (3F01) says she will not run. Adrian Iglesias (3F05) has not yet decided. Claudette David (ANC 3F04) has not responded.
At this writing, the latest DC Board of Elections update on ANC candidates was posted on Tuesday, September 16th, and it shows Baer, Carlson and two additional candidates have picked up nominating petitions: Sue Guzman (3F02) and Nathaniel Bowman (3F05).
Still more candidates could throw their hats in the ring. The deadline to return signed petitions to the Board of Elections is August 7th.
In June, we wrote a detailed article about the 2024 ANC election process. And if you still have questions about how to run, and what it is like to serve, Greater Greater Washington has posted a video of a recent Zoom forum featuring current and former ANC commissioners who talk about those very things.
A version of this article appeared in our July newsletter, and included a misspelling of Marilyn Slatnick’s last name. We apologize for the error, and thank her for serving our community.
