ANC 3F and a new Van Ness Main Street information table at the Oct. 12 UDC farmers market

Do you know your advisory neighborhood commissioner? ANCs, if you’re not familiar, are a bit like neighborhood-level city councils, and their districts cover a few blocks. ANC 3F has seven single member districts covering (roughly) the northern half of the 20008 Zip code. And they all work together to bring local issues to the city’s attention.

ANC 3F commissioners will be at the UDC Van Ness farmers market at 4340 Connecticut Avenue on Saturday, October 12th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Van Ness Main Street invited them. And now it’s inviting you to bring your questions, learn about the work they are doing and will do, and how you can help. There will be lemonade and cookies.

Also, starting this Saturday, Van Ness Main Street will have an information and gift table. A donation of $20 and more will net you a Made in DC tote bag or art print. Van Ness Main Street is also seeking volunteers to staff the table and help spread the word about its mission, events (including a new pop-up shop coming soon to 4340 Connecticut) and activities. Volunteers who take longer shifts will be thanked with a bag, print or farmers market gift card. Email interim director Cherie Lester at [email protected] for details.

And the kid’s art cart at the market will still be there – you just have to look inside! The VNMS storefront is a kids’ art and craft room for the rest of the season. The art room will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Lester is also looking for volunteers who can take a shift and guide kids in Halloween craft-making and fun art activities.
