I assume that the Kuwaiti chancery plans were put on hold or dropped after a new ambassador’s residence was acquired. Was there ever any update to the plans to expand the embassy/chancery. I live nearby on Tilden and am interested to know if there is planned construction.
Pat Jakopchek says
Hi Stephanie –
We’re working to get more clarity on this issue, especially in light of the new ambassador’s residence.
The ANC has provided a list of questions to tomorrow night’s representatives from the Kuwaiti Embassy about the field on Tilden, and we’ll be discussing those issues after we’ve covered the BZA application.
Stephanie says
Thanks, Pat. Was the Kuwaiti Embassy’s field discussed at the ANC meeting?
Pat Jakopchek says
Yes it was. You can view the discussion around the 01:04:40 mark here: http://livestream.com/anc-3f/events/6517561/videos/139241040
The biggest takeaways are:
1.) There are no current construction plans for the lot or a timetable for such plans to be restarted.
2.) The embassy has pledged to engage the nearby community in a dialogue regarding the future of the field moving forward.
As I have more contact with the embassy’s representatives and gather additional details, I will share information with nearby buildings and residents on how they can participate in this dialogue.
