ANC 3F October 21 agenda: Great Streets; DC Statehood; Honoring P&P

ANC 3FAt ANC 3F’s October meeting, learn how small businesses along Connecticut between Macomb and Albemarle Streets can apply for grants worth up to $85,000. The agenda also includes support for the Senate’s DC Statehood bill and honors for a small business that’s become a neighborhood and city institution: Politics and Prose. The commissioners will consider a resolution on that and renaming a Broad Branch tributary for bookstore co-founder Carla Cohen.

The ANC will meet at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 21st, at Forest Hills of DC (4901 Connecticut).

The meeting will be livestreamed and archived for playback at livestream.anc3f.us.

Commissioner Announcements (5 minutes)

Announcements/Open Forum – Opportunity for members of the community to raise issues of concern or importance to the 3F neighborhood.

Presentation by Laurence Jones from the Office of the People’s Counsel (15 minutes)

Presentation by Ryan Hand, OP’s Ward 3 coordinator, regarding the Great Streets program for small businesses in Van Ness (30 minutes)

Resolution to support Bread Furst’s application for a Great Streets grant (15 minutes)

Resolution to request that DDOT expedite the resurfacing of the 3500 block of Davenport St. NW (10 minutes)

Letter to DPR regarding a permit at Hearst Park regarding the Hearst E-Cycle event on November 1 (10 minutes)

Discussion regarding license renewal of a Class B Retain/Grocery License for CVS at 5100 Wisconsin Ave. NW (10 minutes)

Resolution supporting S.132, the U.S. Senate bill on DC Statehood (10 minutes)

Resolution recognizing Politics and Prose’s 30 years as a neighborhood business and landmark. (10 minutes)

Resolution to request that the Council pass a resolution calling on the Congress to name the unnamed tributary that feeds Broad Branch stream in honor of Carla Cohen, founder of Politics and Prose; request to Congress to rename the tributary (10 minutes)

Miscellaneous (10 minutes)
– Approval of minutes from September 2014 meeting
– Approval of quarterly financial report
– Financial update
