A new family has moved into Forest Hills. By the looks of it, they probably made their first appearance in the spring, but I missed it.
Introductions were made along the Linnean stream on July 15th. The mother and her three offspring were enjoying a swim.
Dad was off gallivanting somewhere, I suppose.
When the Linnean and Broad Branch streams were restored in 2014, one particularly intrepid family was eager to move in. They arrived in the spring, undeterred by ongoing construction at the stream restoration site. Forest Hills Connection eagerly followed the growth of the ducklings into the summer.
Have you seen this family? Or spotted any other interesting wildlife at the streams?
Marjorie Rachlin says
They are mallards.
Pat Kasdan says
I saw a male and female Mallard couple floating in Soapstone Creek last Spring, then later on the pond in front of the big house at 32nd & Albemarle, but have not seen them recently, alas.
