I know of one show that has not been postponed or cancelled. It’s free and open to the public. The outdoor temperature just has to be warm enough for its performers.
The American toads take center stage, trilling along with the high pitches of the spring peepers and the leopard frog’s faint baritone in the background.
I was treated to this performance at sundown last Friday, when the temperature was hovering around 70 degrees. The venue was the daylighted portion of Broad Branch Stream. You could sit in your car near the corner of Linnean Avenue and Broad Branch Stream, or venture along the stream until the chorus envelopes you. The streetlights give you enough light to make your way along the ponds.
It looks like the next concert might be Thursday evening. The temperature rises again but it will not as warm as it was on Friday. Keep checking the weather, and don’t worry about rain in the forecast. The frogs will be signing, rain or shine, and these performances are not to be missed.

Lovely! I’ve been checking in on “Mr. and Mrs. Mallard” daily and listening for the frogs and toad but have been unlucky. I will try again tomorrow evening. We were treated to the soaring hawks as compensation.

Lovely frog chorus — thanks!
