Want to question DC agency leaders about the efforts to curb crime and improve public safety in Ward 3? To get the latest on what’s stalling DC Water’s Albemarle Street project? To dig into another erosion control project in the Soapstone Valley?
The coming week is stacked with meetings on these topics and more. The first meeting is ANC 3F’s final regularly scheduled meeting of 2024, on…
Tuesday, November 19th: The meeting begins at 7 p.m., and the agenda (below) includes the DC Water update, an ANC election update, and a discussion of the Office of the Attorney General’s SAFE Act legislation. A representative from the OAG will be on hand to provide information and answer questions.
Wednesday, November 20th: At 6:30 p.m., Ward 3 Council member Matt Frumin is hosting a public safety forum with DC agency leaders. You can attend in person at the UDC Student Center ballroom, or participate on Zoom. Either way, you’re asked to register at bit.ly/w3pubsafety. Those who request the virtual meeting option will be sent the Zoom link upon registration.
Thursday, November 21st: The DC Department of Energy and the Environment is preparing, for the second time in a decade, to address stormwater runoff issues where Linnean Avenue dead-ends on the north side of the Soapstone Valley. On November 6, Ward 3 Councilmember Matt Frumin hosted this Zoom conference to allow community members living along Connecticut Avenue north of our neighborhood to lodge protests at DDOT’s and DC Water’s obnoxious insistence on doing heavy construction work along the Avenue until late at night, interrupting everyone’s sleep:

As Commissioner Baer stated near the end of that YouTube video, our neighbors to the north are now confronting the same attitudes from DDOT and DC Water that we have been confronting here for at least the past two years.

Thank you for this information, as always! On the Linnean Gully project–has there been any thought of incorporating stepping stones or a walking path down to the park? The community has used the adjacent lot for access for decades, so it might make sense to incorporate some kind of a trail as part of this project–especially if there is going to be construction on those adjacent lots (in which case people will likely try to use this area for access with or without a formal trail). Thanks!
