Campaign For Traffic/Pedestrian Safety In Forest Hills

April 11, 2013 by FHC

Ped Safety ObjectivesPedestrian, cyclist and general traffic safety collectively represent a serious public safety challenge for the Forest Hills community. Responding to regular concerns raised by residents during the 2012 campaign season and fulfilling a campaign promise to hold regular District-specific meetings, ANC Commissioner Manolis Priniotakis held a gathering on March 26th at the Methodist Home focused on pedestrian and traffic safety.

The discussion focused on a number of key intersections of interest, such as the intersection of 36th St, Fessenden St., and Connecticut Ave. and the southwestern corner of Chesapeake St. and Connecticut Ave. Below are select slides from the presentation. You can download the full version here (PDF).

Alley InitiativeThe goal of the meeting was to catalog traffic issues specific to the ANC 3F05 Single Member District area, gather resident comments and insights, and develop a work plan to make progress on addressing the issues raised. In addition, during the meeting, Commissioner Priniotakis discussed his “Alley Initiative” to review the condition of the alleys in 3F05 and bring any problem areas to the attention of the District Department of Transportation.

The next meeting will be held mid-June. For more information, please email Manolis at Manolis@ManolisANC.com. Also, please visit www.manolisanc.com.
