What do you seeing in the above photo? If you guessed that it’s a Van Ness Metro pylon stripped of its metal cladding, you are correct.
We snapped the photo a few days before Thanksgiving. The pylon at the east entrance across Connecticut Avenue had also been stripped down to its plywood skivvies.
So, we asked Metro why the pylons were suddenly naked. The following day, we received an answer: “The panels on this pylon were removed for rehabilitation.” That includes cleaning and updating the outer panels, which were reinstalled that day.
