Admire the flowers on Connecticut Ave. and help add more on Nov. 10

October 30, 2019 by FHC Leave a Comment

Have you noticed? In the past couple of weeks, more tree boxes along Connecticut Avenue in Van Ness have been filled with flowers. We have a master gardener to thank for that.

As Van Ness Main Street said on Facebook, Kathy Sykes has led the effort to add more plantings to the Avenue. Last May, Van Ness Main Street recognized Sykes for her volunteer work.

Sykes is a master gardener who earned that title through a UDC program. Her next project for Van Ness Main Street is a spring bulb planting on the afternoon of Sunday, November 10th. You can sign up to volunteer or donate to the effort. Details below.

Join Van Ness Main Street and local volunteer and Master Gardener Kathy Sykes as we plant spring bulbs along the east and west side of Connecticut Avenue from Van Ness Street to Albemarle.

We’ll meet at the VNMS office (4340 Connecticut Avenue). All planting supplies will be provided. Please bring your own gardening gloves and favorite gardening tools if you have them. Drinks and snacks will be provided. Great for groups of all ages!

If you’re unable to attend but would like to support our project to beautify Connecticut Ave, donations are appreciated via paypal.me/vannessmainstreet. Sponsorships are available. Thank you!
