Cleveland Park-based business delivers locally-sourced meat to your door (Sponsored)

When a Northwest DC neighbor began sourcing and delivering high-quality, ethically-raised meats from local farmers in the early spring, he didn’t know Covid-19 would soon turn reliable, safe meat delivery from a luxury into an essential service.

“Literally days after we launched, the pandemic hit,” said Adam Gerson, who founded Near Country Provisions from his Cleveland Park home and partners with farms within a few hours’ drive. “What’s interesting, and I think optimistic for the long term, is that not only are our neighbors valuing delivery more, but also they’re caring more about where their food comes from – how safe and transparent and ethical is the whole supply chain.”

Near Country Provisions offers DC residents subscriptions to receive 100% grass-fed beef and pasture-raised pork on a monthly or bi-monthly basis, delivered to their homes. The proteins are nutrient-dense and deeply flavorful but devoid of additives, since farmer partners are chosen for their strict adherence to avoiding hormones, pesticides, herbicides and GMOs, and for treating their animals humanely.

Customers’ curated mix of proteins arrive in insulated bags. Delivery is always free, and is COVID-sensitive – no-contact.

“We’re on our way to becoming a household name up and down Connecticut Avenue,” said Gerson. “We have happy customers from Germantown to Reston to Alexandria, but Northwest DC is home. Most of all I want to provide my neighbors with ultra-high-quality, ethical meat they can be proud to put on the dinner table.”
