The National Park Service is currently accepting public comments on revised plans to update and renovate the Rock Creek Nature Center, Horse Center and maintenance yard.
NPS introduced the renovation options late last year, after which some community members raised concerns about lost wildlife habitat.
The new plans drop the fourth option, a “Green Campus” that would have had the greatest impact on the green spaces near each complex.
To learn more about the revised concepts, download the latest newsletter on the Nature Center Complex Development Concept Plan here (the link to the newsletter is at the bottom of the page, and though it’s only 13 pages, it’s a large PDF).
The comment period has also been extended through December 15th. You can leave your comments on the project web site, at the November 15th meeting via comment card, or by writing to:
Superintendent, Rock Creek Park;

Comments must be received by December 15 or postmarked by this date if being sent by mail.
