Leaf collection begins today across DC. In our part of Ward 3, that meant a busy weekend of raking for those who live east of Connecticut Avenue.

The leaves in section A are to be picked up from Nov. 6-10. Section B: Nov. 13-17. Section C: Nov. 20-24. Find more information at dpw.dc.gov.
For those who live west of Connecticut Avenue, you have another week (if you live north of Nebraska) or two (south of Nebraska) to get ready. You only need to rake your leaves to the tree box area, or bag them and put in there. Please do not place the leaves in the street unless you do not have a tree box area. Then place at the curb. Click here for more information and the leaf collection schedule in each ward.
What does DC do with all the leaves? It takes them to be composted.
And by raking the leaves, you’re doing the Chesapeake Bay a big favor.
