What’s been accomplished six weeks into DC Water’s 16-month Forest Hills water main replacement project

January 6, 2021

by Marlene Berlin

On Tuesday, DC Water construction workers were tearing up the intersection of Davenport Street and Linnean Avenue to get at the old cast iron water main.

The old pipes are being replaced in an extensive project that began in Forest Hills in the first week of December and will continue through March 2022.

The project area.

Since the project began, the DC Water crew has been focusing on the area at Davenport Street, Linnean Avenue and Chesterfield Place.

Next week will be their sixth in this section. They will be replacing fire hydrants on Linnean and Chesterfield. On Friday, January 15th, they are scheduled to begin testing the newly installed water mains.
