Flavor Garden has closed for good due to “family obligations”

May 8, 2024

Deirdre Holliday-Williams, the owner of Flavor Garden, shortly after she opened the restaurant at 4400 Connecticut in 2022.

Flavor Garden, the restaurant that opened at 4400 Connecticut Avenue almost two years ago, is saying its farewells.

In a May 2nd Facebook post, Flavor Garden writes: “We want to thank you for all the love and support you have given Flavor Garden for the past 2 years! We are sad to post that Flavor Garden has permanently closed its doors at the Connecticut Avenue location due to family obligations. We will truly miss all the loyal customers who are like family to us.”

For owner Deirdre Holliday-Williams, opening Flavor Garden Restaurant & Bar in June 2022 was a neighborhood homecoming. She had attended Deal Middle School and Wilson High School. Funnel cakes and wings made with her own special spice mixes were two of her specialties. The restaurant was also known for its jazz nights.

They won’t tell you what’s in Dee’s Dust, even if you order it on your wings.

Flavor Garden was temporarily closed in December for a renovation. The restaurant reopened in February.
