Free bilingual pre-K opening at UDC on Jan. 7; now accepting 2019-20 applications

January 3, 2019 by FHC Leave a Comment

Mayor Bowser and CommuniKids students at the May 2018 event announcing CommuniKids’ expansion to UDC’s campus.

CommuniKids, which offers the only free pre-K3 program in Ward 3, is opening its second location on January 7th on the UDC campus, and it’s now accepting pre-K3 and pre-K4 applications for the 2019-2020 school year.

CommuniKids is a Spanish-immersion preschool based in Tenleytown, at 4719 Wisconsin Avenue. The school has been providing free bilingual pre-K3 and pre-K4 instruction since fall 2017, with funding from a District program for expanding public pre-K education. In May 2018, Mayor Bowser announced the program’s expansion would include a second CommuniKids at UDC, in Building 41. The 2018-2019 class shared space at the Tenleytown location while UDC prepared the new classrooms.

Now, CommuniKids is accepting applications for enrollment at both locations for the upcoming school year. Find the application, eligibility requirements and the language immersion program at CommuniKids.com.
