Free embassy tours in May take us ’round the world in two days

May 1, 2019 by FHC Leave a Comment

Some of our neighbors are inviting us over this Saturday and next. And we should jump at the chance to visit.

Embassy tours on May 4th and 11th include diplomatic missions in Van Ness. The first one is the Around the World Embassy Tour, one of a number of Passport DC events sponsored by Cultural Tourism DC.

The second is the European Union Open House.

Both tours are free. Of course, food is a main attraction for both (bring cash if you plan to eat) as well as other cultural events. The Around the World tour strongly encourages the use of public transportation. For the EU tour, there will be shuttle buses.

Both tours recommend that you bring government-issued photo identification.

Saturday, May 4, 2019, 10 a.m to 4 p.m. – Around the World Embassy Tour

Participating embassies on International Drive and International Court:
Bahrain: 3502 International Drive
Bangladesh: 3510 International Drive
China: 3505 International Place
Ethiopia: 3506 International Drive
Morocco: 3508 International Drive
Pakistan: 3517 International Court

In addition, three embassies are holding events at the UDC Student Center (4200 Connecticut Avenue): Kosovo, Libya and Uganda.

Saturday, May 11, 2019, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. – European Union Open House

Here’s the list of participating embassies. Five are in the Forest Hills/Van Ness area:

  • Austria: 3524 International Court

  • Hungary: 3910 Shoemaker Street – just off Tilden across from Pierce Mill
