Forest Hills Connecticut has asked the candidates running for the new ANC 3F for statements, which we will be publishing this week and the next. We say “new,” because new boundaries and single member districts will take effect on January 1st, 2023. So this will be a chance to get to know the new SMDs as well as the candidates.
The nine candidates running to represent the six ANC 3F SMDs are:
ANC 3F01: Ryan Cudemus-Brunoli
ANC 3F02: Teri Huet
ANC 3F03: Mitch Baer
ANC 3F04: Claudette David (incumbent)
ANC 3F05: Andrew Koval and James Tandaric (incumbent)
ANC 3F06: Courtney Carlson, Bridget Schwartz and Rona Walters
Depending on where you live, you will see one of these candidates, or two, or three, on your ballot. But we believe it is important to learn about them all. This nonpartisan body will be weighing in on issues that affect the entire ANC, and its resolutions will be granted “great weight” by DC government agencies.
Consider this your one-stop shop for information on these candidates. We will be linking their statements here as we publish them, beginning tomorrow with the contested races in 3F05.

Thank you candidates, for wanting to serve as an ANC Commissioner. It is a difficult job. In the good old days, I would bump into my friend ANC Commissioner Karen Perry at the Giant and she would fill me in on everything going on with the ANC. I once attended a meeting where she showed up late. “They don’t pay for our makeup”, she said. Now I watch the Zoom meetings and almost die of boredom. That’s why I often say “I would like to nominate my ANC Commissioners for Sainthood”.

Thank you Adrian for this memory of Karen. It’s so easy to imagine her saying those words. We served together on the ANC for four years. She could be prickly and a challenge, but she was also very funny, a hard worker who was very helpful to me, and deeply committed to an often thankless job. We had many long conversations in her “office” that was the Giant!
