If you did not have enough to think about with the holiday season upon us, some of our nearby public and private schools are encouraging local families to consider where their kids will be next fall. Here are some of the schools hosting open houses over the next two weeks:

Tonight: Parents and caretakers of eighth graders only are invited to the Wilson High School PTSO’s “Parent to Parent” talk. PTSO representatives will provide an overview of the school and its offerings, and answer questions about the Wilson experience. 6:30 p.m. in the Wilson auditorium

(And you can “Dine Out For Wilson” at Guapo’s before or afterward. Mention Wilson PTSO to your server and Guapo’s will donate 20 percent of the check to the school.)

Sunday, December 8: Maret School (3000 Cathedral Avenue NW) is hosting open houses for its K-4 Lower school and 5-12 Middle and Upper School. For times and to RSVP, visit maret.org.

Saturday, December 14: Edmund Burke School (4101 Connecticut Avenue) is a co-ed, independent, college prep school for Grades 6-12 in Van Ness. 1-2:30 p.m. or 2:30 to 4 p.m., RSVP at burkeschool.org/openhouse

Wednesday, December 18: Deal Middle School (3815 Fort Drive NW) offers information to prospective families at monthly open houses. 9 to 11 a.m.

Don’t fear if you can’t make it. Many schools host open houses and other information sessions on a monthly basis and you can always ask an administrator about making other arrangements.
