Van Ness is about to come alive with art and music, and you can help make it happen.

Imagine being greeted by acrobats as you exit the Van Ness Metro. You view the work of some of our very own local artists and others on display at the UDC Student Center. Then, you’re drawn up the street by the steady beat of music coming from Calvert Woodley. It’s a parking lot dance party. On the way, your attention is diverted to a do-it-yourself craft project, creating puppets for a fun puppet parade.

These will be just some of the attractions at the Van Ness “Art Night: Made in DC” event on Saturday, September 24th.

Van Ness Main Street can only make this exciting transformation of Van Ness a reality with your help. We will need at least 30 volunteers to pull this off. Sign up today for one of our volunteer opportunities. All volunteers receive a FREE Art Night 2016 limited-edition T-shirt.

“Art Night: Made in DC” is a celebration of the arts in all its forms. Local businesses, community institutions, and public spaces transform into pop-up galleries and performance spaces for an evening of art across the city. Art Night events will take place in Dupont Circle, Shaw, North Capitol Street, Congress Heights, H Street, Tenleytown, and of course, Van Ness!

Formerly called Art All Night, this year the annual arts festival is focused on homegrown artists. Van Ness Main Street has recruited nearly 30 artists and performers who work and live in the greater Van Ness area to celebrate the diverse and talented artistic community we have here.

This family-friendly festival will kick off at 7 p.m. and end at 11:30 p.m. in Van Ness. Art displays will include photography, paintings, collages, sculpture and more. Performances will include live music, acrobats, and literature readings. Art Night attendees can celebrate their inner artists through interactive crafts and art projects, and finish up the night with a DJ dance party at the Calvert Woodley parking lot!

And the best part? It’s all free!

Please share – especially the volunteer link. With your help, this is going to be an amazing event! http://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090f4ca9a92ea4f58-artnight
