We’ve talked about checking in on your elderly neighbors, and about ways to support local businesses. What else have you discovered as we feel our way through this unprecedented crisis?
We’ll start: Coronavirus.DC.gov is a comprehensive guide to the DC services that are – and aren’t – available at this time.

Council member Mary Cheh pointed out in a constituent email that none of the sites providing grab-and-go meals for students are in Ward 3, but there are many families in the ward in need of assistance. She is asking that families who are eligible for the “Free and Reduced Meals” program email Cheh’s Legislative Director, Michael Porcello at [email protected], or call her office at (202)724-8062 with the following information::
– If you would be interested in a Ward 3 meal distribution site.
– A general sense of where you live in Ward 3 (such as an address, neighborhood, or intersection). (“This will help us determine if there is a critical mass and what central location would be ideal for a potential site.”)
“I will present these answers to the City Administrator for his evaluation and will keep the community updated on his response,” Cheh said in the email.

In our building, the Brandywine Apartments, our tenant association has started up an email link program called “Brandywine Cares: Neighbors Helping Neighbors,” in which we pair younger residents who are willing to run errands with older residents who cannot get out but need to get groceries, meals , and supplies. It is run by a volunteer coordinator
