The L2 Metrobus stops at Cumberland and outside the Forest Hills of DC home have been moved. The southbound Cumberland stop and shelter is now north of the Davenport intersection.
The northbound Forest Hills of DC/Everett Street stop has been moved south to Ellicott.
DDOT wanted to move the stops for the safety of passengers who had to cross Connecticut Avenue to reach them. The originals were at unsignalized intersections. DDOT paved the way for the new stops almost two years ago, by removing crosswalk markings and curb ramps at Cumberland Street, and installing the concrete bus pads and sidewalk “landing pads” for passengers at the new stops.
Bus stop moves require the cooperation of WMATA, and if there is a bus shelter involved, Clear Channel.

This has been the slowest project I have ever seen. It’s been more than three years since DDOT decided to move the bus stops, and more than two years since they put in the concrete pads for the buses. Is WMATA the reason for the delay? Now we need DC Parking Enforcement to get rid of the cars that still park in the two new bus zones.
