Learn about the school moving into the former Intelsat building at April 9th community meeting

April 5, 2018

We know many of you have many questions about the private Chinese-language immersion school that will open on the Intelsat campus at 4000 Connecticut Avenue.

Perhaps you’ll find some answers at Monday’s community meeting about Whittle School & Studios (details below). After an $185 million renovation, the school’s administrators expect classes to begin in fall 2019. Within five years, they expect to enroll 2,500 students. For comparison, UDC Sidwell Friends has around 850 students enrolled in its nearby Middle and Upper Schools. (The Lower School, when it moves from Bethesda, would raise the student population to around 1,150 at current enrollment levels.)

Here are the details of the Whittle School meeting, from ANC 3F01 Commissioner David Dickinson:

A community meeting is planned for Monday, April 9th from 6 to 8 pm. The meeting will take place in the Student Center, Ballroom A (the new center on Conn Ave) at the University of the District of Columbia (UDC) located at 4200 Connecticut Ave, NW.

The agenda is as follows:
6-6:30 pm – Informal meet and greet
6:30-7:15 – Presentation by Whittle School and Studio
7:15-8:00 – Question and Answer with the Community

Is this meeting really happening? I don’t see any announcement on ANC 3F’s calendar – http://anc3f.com/calendar/

Appears so. David Dickinson posted a reminder to the Tenleytown listserv this morning.
