Whether you’re voting by mail or in person, the last thing we want is for you to look at your ballot and ask yourself, “Who is THAT?”
The candidates for ANC are among those everyone should get to know, as their resolutions on matters important to their neighborhoods are given great weight by DC agencies. So, we’ve been introducing our readers to the eight people running for the seven seats on ANC 3F.
We’ve published statements so far from Alexandria Appah in 3F02, Dipa Mehta in 3F03, Stan Wall in 3F04, Claudette David and Ryan Keefe in 3F05, and Matt Buechner in 3F07. We’re wrapping up the series with the two incumbents.
Today: David Cristeal, who is running unopposed for 3F01.
My name is David Cristeal. I am a shareholder/owner at Tilden Gardens cooperative since November 2016. I was sworn in this past April to fill the remainder of the two-year ANC 3F01 Commissioner term.
ANC 3F01 is a wonderful mix of homes, parks and schools, embassies, and small businesses (5). It’s a great place to live, work, learn, and play.
I ‘ran’ for the vacant spot to represent current and future neighbors’ voices as our city evolves, trying to make it more diverse and inclusive. From the current residential/mixed use developments on Wisconsin Avenue, to the new pool and park improvements at Hearst, the campus planning at UDC, the revitalization of our commercial corridors, the parks and paths that connects us to Rock Creek Park, and rethinking mobility on Connecticut Avenue, I hope to bring my experience to ANC 3F to make our area a better urban home.
Since semi-retiring from Arlington County last November, I consult part time with LSA Planning. Semi-retirement allows more time for family and friends and hobbies, like riding my bike, reading more books, binge watching shows like “The Americans” and “Homeland.” I have a grown son who lives with his wife in Texas.
Please contact me at [email protected] or [email protected]. I’d love to hear from you – your concerns and hopes for our community.
Tomorrow: Monika Nemeth for 3F06
