Meet Your ANC Candidate: Sally Gresham, 3F04

October 3, 2012

Absentee voting began this week, and early, in-person voting starts on October 22nd. As you prepare to mark your ballots, whether it’s now or on November 6th, be sure to read up on your candidate (or candidates) for ANC commissioner.

This week, we present the statements of the ANC 3F candidates who responded to our request to tell us about themselves. And we invite you to a meet-and-greet we are hosting for the candidates on Sunday, October 21st from 2-4 p.m. at the Methodist Home.

Why vote? Your ANC commissioner is your go-to person if you are concerned about the condition of your sidewalks, or pedestrian safety, or if you’d like to see more (or fewer) outdoor cafes on Connecticut Avenue, or music in restaurants on the weekends. Read more about what they do.

Sally Gresham is running for election in ANC 3F04. She is unopposed. Here is her statement:

I am Sally Gresham and I am running for Commissioner of ANC3F04.

A graduate of Hollins University and Virginia Commonwealth University, I am an interior designer by profession. I have my own consulting company, Gresham & Associates, in my home at 3222 Davenport St., NW. Many of my neighbors will recognize my house because of the 4 sculptural white reindeer in our front yard at the holiday season – the neighborhood kids sure do!

I have lived and worked in Forest Hills for 21 years. Previously, I was an ANC Commissioner from 1995 to 1997. While on the commission, I was very involved in community projects such as:

  • Development of a Forest Hills business and community committee;
  • Performed a detailed tree survey in the Forest Hills/Cleveland Park areas for the Urban Forestry Administration;
  • Spearheaded major Murch Elementary School playground and building improvements;
  • Implemented sidewalk/roadway improvements with DPW, DDOT and the impacted property owners;
  • ANC’s liaison with the District 2 police force.

    I also helped my constituents with zoning, neighbor relations and issues of personal concern. Seventeen years later, these same issues – promoting business and community development, preserving our City’s tree canopy, upgrading the municipal infrastructure, improving our educational programs and buildings and providing safe living conditions are all high priorities for our neighborhood.

    My experience as a previous ANC Commissioner, a Murch Elementary HSA Co-President and a member of numerous neighborhood committees has given me the experience necessary to represent my constituents and the ANC. Having worked with many District agencies, including DCPS, DPW, DDOT, DCRA, UFA and DCOZ, I know how to get
    things done!

    If you are a registered voter in single member district 3F04, please VOTE for Sally Gresham on November 6th. I will work for you.

    ANC 3F04
