For the past couple of weeks, we’ve been featuring the people who serve on the most local of our local government: The advisory neighborhood commission for Forest Hills, Van Ness, North Cleveland Park and Wakefield.
ANC commissioners are elected every two years, so they’ll be on the ballot on November 4th (with two exceptions – see below). We invited the candidates of ANC 3F to submit statements about what they’ve done for the neighborhood and how they’d like to serve in the future. Last but not least: Malachy Nugent of 3F06. He is running unopposed.
I am honored to stand for reelection to ANC 3F. Though I have only been on the commission for six months, I am proud of the work I have done in that short time to support our neighborhood and its residents.
This neighborhood has been my home for nearly two decades and I am deeply committed to its positive development. That means facilitating progressive, smart growth along Connecticut Avenue, with attractive mixed-used development and a diversity of quality retail options. It means supporting our neighborhood schools, especially the long-overdue renovations at Murch Elementary, and preserving the quality of our tree-lined streets, our local playgrounds, and parks. And above all, it means serving as the neighborhood’s voice within the DC government, advocating on behalf of residents and businesses in their dealings with the local bureaucracy.
I am always interested in meeting the residents of 3F. The neighborhood is coming alive in a whole new way and I am eager to hear your ideas, concerns, and vision for making a great neighborhood even better. Please feel free to send me an email at [email protected] or call me at (202) 810-3674.
Please note that no one is on the ballot for single member districts 3F05 or 3F07. If you have decided to run as a write-in candidate, please send your statement to [email protected].
